1. MY "What-If" MODEL RAILROAD - GROUND BREAKING
I finally broke ground in June 2015 on the CALIFORNIA MIDLAND as a 4' x 8' project based on the old "HO Railroad That Grows" book published by Kalmbach Publishing in the 50s and 60s. This book started me in the hobby way back, though I have never tried to build it until now.
I am using as much of the material, track, and trains that I have gathered through the years, as possible.
The initial challenges, which I am looking forward to, are:
1. Using Atlas #4 turnouts instead of Atlas Snap Switches (different radius).
2. "Old school" wiring for DC - I do not own DCC.
3. Room restrictions (12' x 10') - must also share space with real world household items.
4. Time (in competition for #1 on the list).
5. Money (another reason DCC is out of the question at this time, and in competition for #1).
6. Other, yet to be discovered, challenges that will come along as I go.
