I am creating a "What If" HO scale model railroad based on these three railroads, which really did exist, but never successfully connected and all were gone by the start of World War II. My "What If" is that they did connect, merged, changed over to standard gauge, and lasted into the 1950s and beyond as the "California Midland Railroad".
